Important Message Regarding Water Supplies at Newlyn Harbour

Unfortunately, Newlyn Harbour’s private water supply has failed its quarterly test with excess levels of Lead, Iron and Nitrogen.

Despite this test being carried out in May of this year by Cornwall Council the results have only recently been provided to us. I can confirm that our chlorination plant is doing its job with regards to microbiology as all readings for the ‘bugs’ have come back as zero.

It is my legal requirement to inform you of these results.

What have we done?
NPHC have immediately switched our water supply to our SWW feed and employed specialists to investigate these high levels of Iron etc. Despite being on SWW, caution should be had when using harbour water and I would recommend using alternative water for drinking purposes.

I will of course keep you informed, and the legal notice and sample results can be found on the Harbour Office Notice Board outside the Harbour Master’s Office.
