Newlyn Research and Development Project – Local Notice to Mariners

The Environment Agency (EA) will commence work on site for the Newlyn Research and Development Project on Tuesday 1 November 2022.  The compound location will be set up in the first week but as of 7 November our contractors will be installing a range of eco-block products from different suppliers on Newlyn Breakwater for research purposes. The evidence gathered will help support their future use, enabling the EA to reduce the carbon cost of new coastal structures whilst also creating new marine habitat.

The dashed orange line on the below plan indicates the route the contractors will be taking from the Compound location on Newlyn Green across the foreshore to the breakwater.  All works will be undertaken 1.5 hours either side of low tide (therefore there will be days at a time where no work can take place).
