Newlyn Harbour’s Private Water Supply

In August, Cornwall Council advised us that our private water supply contained excess levels of lead, iron and nitrogen as a result of a quarterly test.

We immediately switched to our South West Water feed and employed specialists to investigate. We also advised Harbour users to seek alternative sources of drinking water.

In September, Cornwall Council re-tested our private water supply.

Cornwall Council have now confirmed that our main water feed is safe in accordance with the Private Water Supplies Regulations (2016).

The presence of lead in the Council’s previous analysis has been isolated to the Harbour Office Block where an old lead pipe is located. We have informed all tenants and users, and have clearly marked all watering points as not for drinking. We will look to remove the pipe in due course.
