Newlyn Harbour Master and CEO appointed to new role in Devon Posted on October 8, 2021 at 3:00 pm. Newlyn Pier & Harbour Commissioners (NP&HC) announce, with regret, that Newlyn Harbour Master and Chief Executive Officer, Rob Parsons, has tendered his resignation from the role after eight years at the helm to take up the new position of Harbour Master and Head of Harbour Authority and Services in Torbay. During his tenure, Rob Parsons has instigated and overseen a number of significant developments at Newlyn Harbour – including the extensive refurbishment and modernisation of Newlyn Fish Market, Board Room and office accommodation; the provision of a fuelling facility and HIAB loader crane for local fishermen; the achievement of Port Marine Safety Code Compliance and Council membership of the British Ports Association; and the implementation of a rebrand, new website and communications process; enhanced accounting procedures and a structured Management and Governance team. “We thank Rob warmly for his major contribution to the success of Newlyn Harbour as a modern, fit-for-purpose, strategic fishing port and congratulate him on his new appointment,” comments NP&HC Chairman, Rob Wing. “It has not always been easy and Rob has overcome a number of seemingly unsurmountable challenges with hard work and resilience, but he leaves Newlyn in a much better place than when he found it to hand over to his successor, for which, we are most grateful. We look forward to working with the new incumbent to build on Rob’s many achievements during his time here and wish him well for the future.” The role of Newlyn Harbour Master and Chief Executive Officer will now be advertised on the websites of NP&HC, the UK Harbour Masters’ Association, Career Transition Partnership, LinkedIn and Indeed.
